TUNS - Toronto ON
Comprised of Chris Murphy (Sloan) Matt Murphy (Super Friendz, Flashing Lights), and Mike O’Neill (Inbreds), TUNS is an exciting new band of equals, of collaborators, of experienced veterans who sound as exuberant as ever. It’s power pop with intricate melodies, electrifying rock’n’roll written with a deep appreciation for song-craft. It’s like a music geek’s version of fantasy baseball.
Partner - Sackville NB
Partner is the “mature” effort of Killer Haze (Yellowteeth, The Mouthbreathers) alumni Lucy Niles and Josée Caron. Partner is genre-defying and terrifying: part musical act, part teenage diary, and 100% queer, Partner is unflinching in its exploration of intimacy, friendship, sexuality, drugs, and the existential predicament of being a lesbian barista in the year 2015.
Monomyth - Montreal QC
Monomyth is a crown jewel in the court of the crimson and clover. The Halifax four-piece carries on the hallowed East Coast tradition of janglophile pop with a smirking sense of humour, stadium-sized hooks, and starry-eyed harmonies from the barbershop of broken dreams.
Century Egg - Halifax NS
Halifax pop/rock quartet Century Egg have released their debut EP, "Mountain God 山神仙", a set of energetic, sweet, and catchy tunes sung in English and Mandarin. Opening with a cosmic yawn before exploding into the title track, this self-recorded EP offers something both familiar and adventurous, wistful and upbeat.
