Want to be an entrepreneur but have no idea?
Have an idea and want to build a start-up?
Have a start-up and want to perfect your pitch?
Applying to the McGill Dobson Cup Start-UP Competition?
If you answered yes to any of the above, the McGill Start-UP Boot Camp is for you!
This 10-hour bootcamp will whip your start-up into shape! It is an opportunity for all developers, designers and business people to gain insight on building both for-profit and social enterprise start-ups.
Part 1: You will hear from successful entrepreneurs talk about the do's and don'ts of entrepreneurship. Students with no start-up idea will spend the morning in the Inspiration Station to learn how to come up with ideas and actually come up with one! Students with start-up ideas will spend the morning in the Pitch Stations pitching and getting feedback in front of judges (comprised of Lean Launchpad Alumni). The best teams will be selected to pitch in the afternoon for a chance to win prizes!
Part 2: All students will participate in the afternoon workshops where topics such as Value Proposition, Customer Validation, Customer Segments, Channels and Key Financial Metrics will be discussed while students build out their person business canvases. This will be complemented with an overview of the McGill Dobson Cup Start-UP Competition guidelines for those applying. Students will then have the opportunity to watch selected teams pitch and the crowd favourite will be awarded prizes!
Lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day and the event will close with a networking wine and cheese.
