Roberta Gambarini est née à Turin, en Italie, au sein d'une famille de mélomanes. Enfant, elle découvre la musique par le biais de la collection de disques de son père et tombe sous le charme d'Ella Fitzgerald et Billie Holiday. À 17 ans, la jeune chanteuse se fait entendre régulièrement dans les boîtes de jazz du nord de l'Italie et à Milan, où elle s'installe l'année suivante. En 1998, elle traverse l'Atlantique à destination de Boston, où elle profite d'une bourse d'étude du New England Conservatory. Relocalisée à New York, elle fait rapidement sa niche sur la scène jazz. En 2006 la chanteuse lance Easy to Love, suivi l'année suivante de You Are There, enregistré avec le célèbre pianiste Hank Jones. So in Love voit le jour en 2009.

Born into a jazz-loving family in Torino, Italy, jazz vocalist Robert Gambarini grew up listening to her father's record collection and was enthralled by singers such as Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday. At 17, she was singing in jazz clubs around Northern Italy and moved to Milan the following year, where she turned heads participating in various jazz competitions. After a decade of touring the Italian jazz circuit and releasing local recordings, she moved to Boston in 1998, on a scholarship from the New England Conservatory, and later to NYC, where she quickly became a staple of the jazz scene. In 2006, she released her acclaimed American debut album, the Grammy-nominated Easy to Love, followed by You Are There in 2007, with pianist Hank Jones, and So in Love in 2009.
