Dans cette performance-conférence, Tanya Lukin Linklater réunira des artistes et penseurs autochtones et afro-américains – Maria Tallchief, Leonardo Drew, Beyoncé, Audra Simpson, Peter Morin – pour poser des questions telles que: Comment les objets évoquent-ils l’éphémérité des structures invisibles? Les structures ressenties? Celles qui régissent la vie quotidienne? Comment entrer en dialogue avec ces traces éphémères? Dans les mots de l’artiste: «Dans les discussions sur le corps, le corps y est absent. Une absence très présente. Dylan Robinson a parlé récemment du pouvoir qu’a le regard institutionnel à structurer notre regard à nous. Je m’interroge sur le pouvoir dans le regard du chorégraphe (George Balanchine) et le pouvoir du corps par rapport à ce regard (Maria Tallchief, première danseuse de ballet). Je m’interroge aussi sur le pouvoir du corps à transgresser l’emprise de cette structure. Nos variétés d’insistance peuvent être différentes.»

This performative lecture by Tanya Lukin Linklater will configure Indigenous and African-American artists and thinkers – Maria Tallchief – Leonardo Drew – Beyoncé – Audra Simpson – Peter Morin – alongside questions that ask: “How do objects evoke the ephemera of invisible structures? Felt structures? Structures that impact our everyday lives? How do we respond to these ephemeral residues?” From the artist: “I find an absence of the body within a conversation about the body. An absence that is present. Dylan Robinson recently spoke of the force of the institution’s gaze to structure the way that we look. I wonder about the force of a choreographer’s look (George Balanchine). I wonder concomitantly about the force of the body in relation to this look (Maria Tallchief, prima ballerina). I wonder about the force of the body to exceed the structure’s exertion.
Our kinds of insistence may be different.”
