Nuit blanche à Montréal du Festival Montréal en Lumière au CCA : un marathon de courts-métrages et des performances culinaires reflétant les enjeux climatiques
#CLIMAVORE: Au cours de la soirée, Cooking Sections orchestrera trois performances culinaires. Les visiteurs pourront déguster des versions comestibles de fléaux climatiques. Tels qu’imaginés par les artistes, les plats seront regroupés en saisons pouvant se décliner en semaines, en années ou en siècles. #CookingSections est un duo basé à Londres, formé de Daniel Fernández Pascual et Alon Schwabe. Ensemble, ils explorent les liens entre les arts visuels, l’architecture et la géopolitique à travers la nourriture, la performance, le mapping et la vidéo.

En collaboration avec NFB l’Office national du film du Canada (ONF), le CCA a concocté une sélection exclusive de courts-métrages réalisés entre les années 1940 et 1970, au sujet des conquêtes dites « héroïques » de la nature au Canada, du temps où leurs répercussions étaient encore méconnues (ou dont on n’avait mesuré la gravité). Le CCA présentera ainsi six heures de films et de documentaires remettant en question la relation entre le Canada et la nature, ainsi que notre comportement face à la situation. Parmi les films : The Story of Oil (1946) ; Road of Iron (1955) ; Land for Pioneers (1944) ; Log Driver’s Waltz (1979) ; Terra nova (1964) ; Trans-Canada Summer (1958) ; Railroaders (1958) ; Men Against the Ice (1960) ; Day in Forillon (1978) ; Chemical Conquest (1956) ; et Let’s Look At Water (1947).
Les présentations auront lieu au théâtre Paul-Desmarais, de 20h à 2h. L’évènement est gratuit.
Les galeries seront ouvertes pendant toute la soirée, alors vous pouvez profiter des trois exhibitions à l’affiche : Le temps presse, Et si on parlait de bonheur sur le chantier? et Phyllis Lambert : 75 ans au travail.

#CLIMAVORE: Three interactive dinner performances by Cooking Sections , who will serve edible reactions to climatic events. These provocative drinks and meals will be organized into seasons that can span weeks, years, or centuries. #CookingSections is London-based duo Daniel Fernández Pascual and Alon Schwabe. They use installation, performance, mapping, and video to explore intersections between visual arts, architecture, and geopolitics through food.

We are also organizing a marathon of optimism, a selection of rarely screened short films from the NFB #NationalFilmBoard that document Canada’s “heroic conquests” of nature from the 1940s through the 1970s, a time before we noticed (or cared about) the unintended consequences of progress. Lasting six hours in total, these short films and documentaries challenge assumptions about our relationship to nature today by reminding us of how we used to be, and asking: how much have we really changed? Screenings are held in the Paul-Desmarais Theatre, from 8pm until 2am. Admission is free.
