2014 Public Report on the Terrorist Threat to Canada, states that, "as of early 2014, the government knew of more than 130 individuals with Canadians connections who were abroad and who were suspected of supporting terrorism-related activities of various groups," as well as "80 individuals who have returned to Canada after travel abroad for a variety of suspected terrorism-related purposes. Terrorist Threats to Canada, Homegrown violent extremists pose a threat of attack. In Canada, homegrown violent extremists have been involved in attempts to recruit supporters, raise funds or acquire other forms of support.
METSEC 2015 will focus on the challenges facing First Responders, Commanders and National Security experts with emerging threats to local and National key infrastructure, while protecting Citizens, businesses and National Interests at home and abroad. The event will examine the Tactics used to confront the threats, and re-evaluate approaches and techniques to prevent, detect, deny and respond to acts of terrorism. A featured session will be aimed at identifying knowledge and awareness of tools and resources available to the Local, Provincial and National experts to enhance interoperability and combat radicalization.
METSEC 2015 will gather some of the leading National and International security experts from Government, Police, Military and industry discussing Counter-Terrorism initiatives, Infrastructure Protection, Counter-IEDs/EOD, CBRNE, Airport and Port Security, Transit Security and Communications Interoperability at the local, Regional, National and International level.
Exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services on May 5 – 6 the days of the conference at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Montreal with live demonstrations on-site and off-site for equipment requiring security perimeter, which is being coordinated with the local authorities.
