Lorsque le pianiste de jazz David Ryshpan et le guitariste Pablo Bonacina croisent la route d’Irem Bekter, on peut affirmer que c’est une nouvelle voix de musiques métissée qui se fait entendre.
Irem est née en Turquie, a étudié le chant et la danse en Angleterre, et a connu une carrière artistique de plus de vingt ans en Argentine, avant de s’installer au Québec en 2007. Ce parcours éclectique aura forgé un « patrimoine vivant », selon Alain Brunet de La Presse.
Ce soir, Irem Bekter et World Jazz proposent une errance dans les dédales envoûtants des souks et des rues sinueuses d’Istanbul. Une soirée remplie d’airs qui battent la mesure du mystère et de l’aventure. Irem Bekter sait concilier les mélodies traditionnelles de son pays d’origine avec le son contemporain du jazz. Cela donne des compositions originales telles L’azur Istanbul et It’s a long journey un son unique fait de pulsions irrésistibles qui fouettent l’imaginaire et de douces sérénades qui bercent l’âme.

When the jazz pianist David Ryshpan and the guitarist Pablo Bonacina crossed paths with Irem Bekter, a vibrant new sound was born.
Irem was born in Turkey, studied voice and dance in England and had an artistic career spanning more than 20 years in Argentina before coming to Québec, in 2007. This eclectic cultural mix has forged what Alain Brunet of La Presse calls “a Living Heritage”.
Tonight Irem Bekter and World Jazz guide you through the captivating mazes and winding streets of Istanbul. An evening filled with melodies that suggest mystery and adventure. Irem knows how to blend the traditional melodies of her birthplace with the cool beat of contemporary jazz. Original compositions, such as L'azur Istanbul and It’s a long journey, highlight irresistibly driving rythms that stir the imagination and sweet serenades that soothe the soul.
Irem Bekter and World Jazz is a multifaceted quartet whose engaging sound varies with the composition of the group. The quartet’s core of David Ryshpan, Pablo Bonacina and Joel Kerr can alternate with Luzio Altobelli (drums, accordion) or Kullak Viger-Rojas (percussions).
