La quête identitaire est souvent nourrie par un besoin de trouver un lieu auquel nous appartenons. En 2017, la notion de lieu sera capitale au Canada. Les récits ayant particulièrement trait à l’appartenance et à la cohésion sociale revêtiront une importance cruciale. Prendre place est une série portant sur les arts performatifs qui réunit sous un même toit huit artistes exceptionnels issus des quatre coins du monde au moment précis où la notion de lieu devient singulièrement pertinente. Lieu de résidence, géographie, attachement territorial. Communauté. La série Prendre place a en outre été conçue pour faire référence aux droits civils et aux mouvements de libération qui ont trait à l’inclusion. Il s’agit de prendre sa place au moment où la notion d’équité est toute aussi déterminante. Intersection, identité sociale et frontières indéfinies.

The search for who we are is often fuelled by a need to find a place where we belong. The notion of place in Canada in 2017 will be significant. Narratives particular to belonging and to social cohesion will be critical. Taking Place is a performance art series conceived as a means to group together eight significant performance artists from around the globe under one roof precisely at a time when the notion of place becomes especially relevant. Place as address, as geography, as territorial attachment. Community. Taking Place was also conceived as a means to reference civil rights and liberation movements, of inclusiveness. Taking one’s place at a time when the notion of equity is equally as climacteric. Intersection, social identity and indefinite borders.
