Our last guest of the month is the amazing Dr. Love! He is hands down one of the best DJ we know and is passionate about disco, house and UKG.
Dr. Love was born in the 70's and started playing with his parent's turntable at age 3. He quickly become addicted to disco music and recorded his favorite shows on his dad's reel to reel. Following the evolution of dance music through the 80's revolution; new-wave, italo disco, electronic alternative, Dr. Love found his calling after seeing the movie BEAT STREET, a movie about breakdancing, djing and the new sounds of black electronic dance music called electro hip-hop. He soon after went and bought himself 2 turntables, a mixer and started to host a radio show at his high schoool during the lunch hour.
Since then, Dr. Love has come a long way, spinning records in all the important clubs in Montreal including legendary Business and Crisco. He took part in the 90’s vibrant warehouse party scene, opening the way for Urban music in the gay village in the late 90’s and being the first to play in an exclusive R’n’B room at Unity. From 2000 to 2008, he also worked as a manager for Inbeat, a landmark of Montreal's vinyl record scene.
More recently, Dr. Love was throwing the Super 12" and Rewind UKG parties at the now defunct Royal Phoenix. He also made countless appearences with Lexis and rocked many high profile venues like Igloofest.
Whether it's disco, bumpy UK garage, jackin' jazzy Chicago house or soulful deep house, Dr. Love plays from the heart!
