Award winning Harmonica virtuoso, Joe Powers is known throughout the world as a premier Tango artist, yet his musical interests also include Jazz-Fusion, Classical, Blues, Pop-Rock, Brazilian, Hip-Hop, Latin, New Age, World Traditions, and more.
He was the winner of the Belgian Crystal Harmonica Award in the Classical Division (2008) and received 4th place in Jazz Diatonic, at the World Harmonica Championship in Germany (2005). He continues to perform and teach throughout North and South America, Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and South Korea, appearing on TV and Radio, and collaborating with renowned artists and ensembles as diverse as the countries he visits.
While living in Buenos Aires he honed his Tango skills and over the years Joe has worked with top tango maestros such as: Emilio de la Peña, Raul Luzzi, Koji Kyotani, UK based "Tango Siempre", and Japan's top Tango ensemble Orquesta Aurora. Recently he has been featured with electro Tango groups: Otros Aires, Tanghetto, and Narcotango. He has also shared the bill with Tango stars such as Alberto Podesta, ColorTango, and "Gotan Project" singer Veronika Silva.
