From Toronto to NYC, this is a short n' sweet show that features two songwriters, their music and a few fave covers. We'll always have a band curated to the guest artist and feature at least one freshly minted tune. After so many attemps, I finally snagged him - get ready to be immediately drawn in to Mr. Taylor Ashton.
I first heard Taylor at a small café with big musical heart in Toronto, called Holy Oak. Like Rockwood, it's got a scene of incredible music and musicians who sometimes play to a sweaty and packed tiny room or no one at all, but it is almost always some of the most interesting, intimate and fresh playing you've had the privilege of hearing.
Taylor was there playing banjo and singing with a drummer. Drums, banjo, and voice - it could have been a night where every song sounded the same, however the entire set completely captivated me. Taylor's got a way with prose, his delivery offhand and sometimes wonderfully gruff, but infused with sticky and round-the-corner soul.
I'm so happy to be playing this show with him and that we'll get to collaborate.
Join us as we try to deal with the fact that New Years is ALREADY HERE... AGAIN. And Merriam-Webster coined the word for 2016 as "surreal". Touché, M-W.
