Scrum Product Owner Workshop: S.M.A.R.T. User Stories
Wednesday April 15, 3pm @ District 3
In the process of motivate a team, Product Owners can choose to be S.M.A.R.T. about their user story creation. S.M.A.R.T user story paradigm attempts to achieve a product backlog filled with stories that are:
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Achievable
R – Relevant
T – Time-boxed
Achieving such a task is often very difficult, but vitally important as communication is the key to success. In times of high stress, the busy Product Owner can be forgiven for neglecting the S.M.A.R.T user story—however when in crisis mode, shared, goals are a teams best friend.
This workshop will discuss the S.M.A.R.T user story paradigm, to be followed by a peer-to-peer session user story session.
4 product owners will pitch their company for 3 minutes, where it stands and their epic user story. Teams will then form to have a 30 minute sprint planning session -- to come up with the best S.M.A.R.T user stories the company can carry forward in a 30 day sprint.
The four teams will then battle for the best and S.M.A.R.T. (est) user story because as always - there can be only one.
ScruMTL does not advocate any particular approach as the correct one, (teams self-organize) but offers this information within the many possibilities of how scrum can be implemented. The only right approach is the one that works for your team.
As always, the workshop is free of charge and free of waterfalls.
