〈 Que se passe-t-il dans la tête d’une personne souffrant de dépression ? Dans cette incarnation sincère à l’esthétique pop du Magicien d’Oz, les émotions sont indéniables. Ce solo dramatique est une allégorie chorégraphique orageuse de la santé mentale. La protagoniste, accompagnée de son fidèle Toto, bascule entre deux émotions, entre deux sorcières, entre deux idées pour conquérir ses démons. Le jacassement des Munchkins et des échos de « Over the Rainbow » hantent l’air. La gestuelle nerveuse se lit comme un langage des signes inventé, truffé de connotations symboliques explicites. Aurez-vous droit à une fin heureuse ? 〉
〈 What happens in the mind of someone suffering from depression? In this sincere incarnation of the pop aesthetic of The Wizard of Oz, emotions are raw and real. This solo is a stormy choreographic metaphor for mental illness. It’s dramatic. The protagonist, a super-realistic Toto at her side, wavers between two emotions, two witches, two ideas to conquer her demons. High-pitched Munchkin chatter and strains of “Over the Rainbow” hang in the air. Her erratic gestures are graphic with symbolic overtones, suggesting an illogical sign language. This time, a happy ending is far from certain. 〉

〈 Selon cette œuvre en cours de création, la soi-disant solidité du « je » serait plutôt une collection de fictions étranges, insensées et interrompues. Fragmentées, ces souches de récits bouillonnent sous la surface du soi. Refoulées, mais indéniablement au travail dans chacun de nos muscles et tissus nerveux, elles viennent éloquemment troubler l’image d’une identité cohésive. Parfois dans un élan de fluidité corporelle, parfois de manière profondément maladroite ; avec un sens de l’humour délicieusement absurde et tranchant ; et avec une curiosité incessante pour ce qui se passe ici et maintenant, ce chorégraphe-interprète investigue les parties de nous qui se pointent, sans invitation et sans prévenir, malgré nos meilleurs efforts. 〉
〈 This work-in-progress testing of materials explores the seemingly stable “I” as composed of odd, non-logical, truncated fictions. Fragmented, these strains of narrative percolate just beneath the surface of the self. Inhibited, but still twitchily at play in our very muscles and tissues, they eloquently trouble an otherwise cohesive identity. At times with a fluidly surging physicality, at times deeply dis-coordinated; with a sense of humour both deliciously absurd and razor sharp; and with an unflinching curiosity about what’s happening right now in this moment, this dancer-choreographer probes the parts of us that show up, unannounced and uninvited, despite our best efforts. 〉
