The McGill Association of Student Composers presents its first composer forum of 2017! Join us this Thursday at 5pm in room A-510 for a talk by award-winning McGill alum Thierry Tidrow on his recent music.
Thierry Tidrow: Fine Lines and Sweet Spots
"Through the lens of my most recent work, I will present a diverse range of artistic concepts that have been of particular interest and importance to me over the past few years. Vocality in music, intertexuality and reference as a quest for personal identity, timbral exploration as a mediation between pitch and noise: all of these concepts play key roles in my work. The underlying dialectics of voice versus instrument, my music versus the music of others, and pitch versus noise are scrutinised in order to cultivate those extremely rich, fine lines in which 'converging points' are exploited in ways both personal and peculiar."
