Lorsque le pianiste de jazz David Ryshpan et le guitariste Pablo Bonacina croisent la route d’Irem Bekter, on peut affirmer que c’est une nouvelle voix de musiques métissée qui se fait entendre.
Irem est née en Turquie, a étudié le chant et la danse en Angleterre, et a connu une carrière artistique de plus de vingt ans en Argentine, avant de s’installer au Québec. Ce parcours éclectique aura forgé un « patrimoine vivant », selon Alain Brunet de La Presse. De sa rencontre avec les musiciens qui composent son projet World Jazz, naîtra un son unique et contemporain, des compositions originales et traditionnelles tissé de jazz et d’airs sud-américains et turcs. Il en résulte une magnifique ode à la vie et à la richesse culturelle du monde d’aujourd’hui.
Irem Bekter et World Jazz est un quartette à géométrie variable qui adapte son offre musical, au gré des artistes qui s’y produisent. Au noyau central de David Ryshpan, Pablo Bonacina et Joel Kerr peuvent alterner Luzio Altobelli (batterie et accordéon) ou Kullak Viger-Rojas (percussions). Le résultat est une musique rythmée qui séduit et qui fait rêver et voyager.

When the jazz pianist David Ryshpan and the guitarist Pablo Bonacina crossed paths with Irem Bekter, a vibrant new sound was born.
Irem was born in Turkey, studied voice and dance in England and had an artistic career spanning more than 20 years in Argentina before coming to Québec, in 2007. This eclectic cultural mix has forged what Alain Brunet of La Presse calls “a Living heritage”. The result, when blended with the talented musicians who make up her ensemble, World Jazz, is a unique and contemporary sound, elements of jazz woven through with melodies evoking her South-American and Turkish influences, a celebration of life and the rich cultural diversity of today’s world.
Irem Bekter and World Jazz is a multifaceted quartet whose engaging sound varies with the composition of the group. The Quartet’s core of David Ryshpan, Pablo Bonacina and Joel Kerr can alternate with Luzio Altobelli (drums, accordion) or Kullak Viger-Rojas (percussions). The result is a rhythmic blend of melodies that brings the audience on a seductive and entertaining musical journey.
