Our 8th installment of the Band Eh'd program is ready to go.
If you're not not familiar with Band Eh'd, the concept is pretty simple..... musicians helping the community. We have raised 10s of thousands in the past 3 years since developing this concept.
For this round the rules are simple. We have created a pool of musicians eager to participate and show support for a friend in need.
We take 30 or so musicians, form 6 or 7 "bands" and they entertain you for hours for free. The bands are a blind draw selection. Bands can be made up of musicians who have never met, let alone played together before.
Bands choose 3 songs based on criteria selected to match the theme of the night.
Band DO NOT GET TO REHEARSE this is the fun part. In the past 7 events, there has been some incredible musicianship displayed on the stage at the Brass Monkey.
And now the important part.
Our guest of honor for Band Eh'd Eight is a very close friend of the Brass Monkey as well as a huge supporter of live music. A short while ago, Dave Lafrance was diagnosed with cancer and has decided to waive treatment as it is inevitably terminal. He has chosen to live out his days with his head held high and continue to enjoy life at the highest level possible.
Dave has asked that all donations collected from this round should be passed along to the Make A Wish foundation allowing a child to perhaps fulfill a dream of their own. It takes a brave person to live out his or her days like this and an even bigger heart to continue to give as Dave always has... never looking back, always a big smile and a warm soul.
