Black Theatre Workshop presents our annual fundraiser:
31st Vision Celebration Gala
This year we will be celebrating trailblazing leaders carving paths for the future and two formidable artists for the artistic & academic achievements! The Vision Gala Celebrations 2017 is a part of Montreal’s 375th Anniversary Celebrations and a launching point for Black History Month.
Please join us as Mr. Winston Sutton receives the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Achievement Award for his significant contribution to the development of Black theatre and cultural life. Winston Sutton is an accomplished actor & director who graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1988. He won the prestigious Esther B. Khan Award, given to the top graduating students in the Fine Arts Department at Boston University. Mr. Sutton served as the Artistic Director of Black Theatre Workshop from 1988-1993, and in 1994 gained tenure as a professor in the Theatre Department at Dawson College.
The Dr. Clarence Bayne Community Service Award, which recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to Montreal’s cultural community, will be presented to Ms. Pat Dillon-Moore. The celebration will also honour two emerging artists for their artistic achievements with the Victor Phillips and Gloria Mitchell-Aleong Awards.
This elegant gala affair will take place on Saturday, January 28th, 2017 at La Plaza, located at 420 Sherbrooke St W., Montréal. Cocktails begin at 5:30pm, followed at 6:30pm by a four-course dinner, special guest performances and the awards presentations. An individual donation will contribute to supporting the proliferation of Black theatre in Montreal, while guaranteeing your attendance at what promises to be a truly unforgettable cultural evening.
We invite you to share in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Dream and make an active contribution. Please confirm your attendance by contacting me, Box Office Coordinator at 514-932-1104 ext. 225 or via email at vision@blacktheatreworkshop.ca.
