McGill perucssionist Joey Fox will discuss the idiomatic qualities and playing techniques of the double seconds. This presentation will consist of a introduction to the double seconds, a brief overview of pan history, and an exploration of approaches that other composers have taken to writing for the instrument.
After the presentation, interested McGill student composers can work with Joey to write steel drum pieces. Composers can have their works published through MauMauMusic, "the web's largest source of steel drum sheet music."
