The McGill Association of Student Composers (MASC) invites students, faculty and the general public to our Forum on Contemporary Music. Presentations will be given by visiting composers Mauricio Pauly and Sabrina Schroeder. This event is also part of the 2015-16 Doctoral Colloquium Lecture Series.
Mauricio Pauly (Costa Rica, 1976) writes music for amplified instruments, performative electronics and prefabricated sounds. With Noam Bierstone’s support he will illustrate some of the approaches and techniques that are featured in his most recent music via three works: Its Fleece Electrostatic (2012, percussion version 2015), Patrulla Reliquia (2015) and The Threshing Floor (2014).

Sabrina Schroeder (Canada, 1979) writes music for live performers using systems of modified transducers and self-made mechanics. She uses these as a kind of live connective tissue within a body of instruments, digging into more visceral aspects of sound that have a permeating intensity in live performance. She will share some of these projects with a main focus on her recent Stircrazer series.
