Zaineb est une Tunisienne de neuf ans qui a perdu son père. Sa mère veut refaire sa vie avec un homme au Canada. Zaineb s’est fait dire qu’une fois là-bas, elle verrait enfin la neige. Mais elle ne veut rien savoir de ce nouveau pays, elle a décidé qu’elle détestait la neige.
Suivant six ans de la vie d’une jeune et charismatique Tunisienne et de sa famille qui évolue, ce documentaire est le portrait touchant d’une prise de maturité raconté à travers les yeux d’une immigrante.

La fauconnerie est une histoire qui a plus de quatre mille ans. En occident, c’était la passion prédominante de l’aristocratie médiévale, mais son prestige se poursuit dans la culture arabe contemporaine. Trois ans d’observation de ce type de chasse on permis de capturer l’essence de cette tradition qui permet aux fauconniers d’aujourd’hui de garder un rapport de proximité avec le désert, même si leurs vies son plutôt urbaines.

2009. Tunisian Nine-year-old Zaineb lost her father. Her mother will rebuild her life with a man in Canada. Zaineb was told that once she is there, she can finally see the snow! But she wants nothing to do with this new country, Because Zaineb has decided to hate the snow.
Covering six years in the life of a charismatic young Tunisian girl and her changing family life, this documentary is a beautiful and poignant coming-of-age story told through the eyes of a wide-eyed little immigrant.

Falconry has a history that stretches back over 40 centuries. In the West it was a prevailing passion of the medieval aristocracy, but its prestige continues undiminished in contemporary Arab culture. Three years of observing this form of hunting in the field have made it possible to capture the spirit of a tradition that today allows its practitioners to keep a close rapport with the desert, despite their predominantly urban lifestyle. Our guide to how they cross that threshold is a falconer taking his birds to compete in a tournament in Qatar. In the glaring light of an empty landscape, following flight lines and lures, the film recounts a strange kind of “desert weekend”, in which technological and anthropological microcosms hang in the air, like the falcon, drifting on the irreversible currents of images.
