Join Cinema Politica Concordia for the Montreal premiere of Food Coop Le Film, a film taking us deep into the belly of one America’s oldest cooperative food supermarkets - with a healthy dose of insight and wit! This screening is in collaboration with Transform/er Montreal, which will be joining us for a post-film discussion.
This screening is co-presented by Sustainability Action Fund Concordia, Concordia Greenhouse & NousRire. Admission is by donation basis ($5-10 suggested). The venue is wheelchair accessible. *Very excited to announce that our friends at the People's Potato will be providing wraps before the screening (in the lobby of the Hall Building, starting at 6)!*

In the middle of an economic crisis, in the shadow of Wall Street, an institution that represents a less well-known American tradition is booming; The Park Slope Food Coop, a cooperative supermarket where all 16,000 members work 3 hours per months to earn the right to buy the best food in New York at incredibly low prices. Inspiring as much hatred as enthusiasm, this coop founded in 1973 is probably the best implemented socialist experience in the United States.

En pleine crise économique, dans l'ombre de Wall Street à New York, une institution qui représente une autre tradition américaine, moins connue à l'étranger, est en pleine croissance. C’est la coopérative alimentaire de Park Slope, un supermarché autogéré où 16 000 membres travaillent 3 heures par mois pour avoir le droit d'y acheter les meilleurs produits alimentaires, pour la plupart biologiques, dans la ville de New York aux prix on ne peut moins chers. Inspirant autant de haine que d’enthousiasme, cette coopérative fondé en 1973 est sans doute l'expérience socialiste la plus aboutie aux Etats-Unis.
