Tropic of Cancer, formation originaire de Los Angeles, est le projet solo de Camella Lobo. Bien que plusieurs catégorisent son style comme un mélange d’influences gothiques, shoegazes et pop drone, le style de la Californienne est à des lieues du déjà-vu.
Anciennement complétée par l’artiste minimaliste techno Silent Servant (Juan Mendez), la formation Tropic of Cancer a peu à peu su cultiver une réputation plus qu’enviable suite à la parution de son premier EP The Dull Age (2009). The Sorrow of Two Blooms, EP paru sous le label londonien Blackest Ever Black, a quant à lui propulsé Tropic of Cancer sous les projecteurs de la scène underground.

Los Angeles based Tropic of Cancer is the solo project of Camella Lobo. Though her music has been labeled gothic, shoegaze and drone pop, Lobo’s take on her influences is anything but nostalgic. Tropic Of Cancer has managed to imbue its own elusive gaze and craft a strangely beautiful and intoxicating sound in the wake of its predecessors.
Formerly a duo with minimal techno artist Silent Servant (Juan Mendez), Tropic Of Cancer has been stoking a slowburning cult following since its first EP, The Dull Age, on Berlinbased label, Downwards in 2009. The Sorrow of Two Blooms, an EP released on London imprint Blackest Ever Black, catapulted Tropic Of Cancer into the underground spotlight.
