Vous êtes conviés à série de discussions, de performances et de projections de films/vidéos qui portent sur le statut artistique de l’auteur et la production du savoir en relation aux politiques institutionnelles de l’art et à l’historiographie des expositions. Les participants à ce programme discuteront notamment d’histoires négligées des expositions ainsi que des discours théoriques et critiques que cette négligence sous-entend, en relation au statut d’auteur des artistes depuis les années 1960. Ils interrogeront comment la corrélation entre les politiques institutionnelles de l’art et l’historiographie curatoriale, marquée par un discours d’inclusion et d’exclusion, est réfléchie ou défiée dans la “performance” ou tous modes de médiation inhérents à leur mode de production artistique.

The Politics of Authorship and History of Exhibitions
FROM DECEMBER 12 TO 15, 2012
You are invited to a series of lectures, performances and screenings on the status of artistic authorship and knowledge production in relation to the institutional politics of art and the historiography of exhibitions. The invited participants will discuss their interest in the official and hidden histories of exhibitions and how the theoretical discourses they generate, have challenged the authorial status of cultural production. The cultural archive thereby serving as a medium as well as a source material to reflect upon the phenomenological as well as cultural conditions that determine our understanding of the complex fabric involved in the production and mediation of contemporary art. Topics will range from early avant-garde exhibition histories, to the theoretical discourses generated by art movements and politics since the 1960s, up to current practices and theories of gender and queer studies, institutional critique, and the canonization of curatorial practices.
