Mobile health applications: from their use to their ethical, deontological and legal challenges
The market for mobile health applications is currently booming. Several factors contribute to the development of the market for mobile health applications, among others, the democratization of digital mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) which gain in performance; and a commitment of the IT industry, Web Giants and pharmaceutical firms, who see these innovations as a very promising market. Furthermore, the development of a mobile applications market occurs within the perspective of a participatory culture in the area of health, which it helps to advance, allowing for health measurement, self-monitoring and self-care. However, if health applications are increasingly popular with the public and caregivers, researchers and health stakeholders are divided on the issues surrounding their use and evaluation.
This international conference aims to bring together researchers from different disciplines and professionals from the health sectors and the mobile applications industry as well as patients to reflect on the ethical, deontological, and legal issues surrounding the development, implementation and evaluation of mobile health applications.
This international conference is co-organized by the SG Internet and Health, the SG Ethics and Integrity of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) and the Centre for Research on Communication and Health (ComSanté-UQAM).
