Views of the world festival is a Montreal-based Quebec film and music festival dedicated to human rights, including women's and children's rights, and the environment.
The festival will be held from 18 to 24 September 2017.
A competition of films, film music and screenplays from all over the world is organized. Each one revolves around one of the 3 themes that are important to the festival : environment, human rights and education / equality for women. These movies will be shown at the Rialto Theater and will be open to the public.
The goal is to:
- Defend human rights, in particular those related to women's equality.
- Promote multiculturalism and respect for all ethnic groups.
- Protect the environment and support sustainable development.
- Fighting all causes of climate change.
- Reveal and explain as many social and humanitarian issues as possible.
Theme days will also be presented during the festival to honor the countries and causes. This year, the Festival is hosting the Italian day, Media Women's Day, New Talent Day and Francophonie Day. These days will be an opportunity for debates, conferences and cocktails.
There will also be Masterclasses, Networking Evenings and the presence of some of the directors, producers and other professionals of the movies in competition to present their film, explain their approach and the message they wanted to convey.
An important part of the Festival's revenues will go to Foundations such as Elle and Hunger.
