Following the premiere, which will be held at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, SAMAH will come to Montreal on June 17, 2017; a show dedicated to Bharatanatyam, one of the principal classical dances of India, originating from the South. SAMAH pushes the boundaries of this ancient form of Indian dance to new horizons, inspired by the poetry of the mystics such as Adi Shankaracharya, Kabir, Amir Khusro, Bulleh Shah, and Rumi. The superb dancer Janaki Rangarajan, who is acclaimed by critics as a particularly inspired, dazzling, and fascinating performer, was hailed by the New York Times as a “spellbinder”. The Bharatanatyam dancer will be accompanied by live musicians from India, illuminating the performance hall of La Maison de la culture Frontenac, on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 6:30pm.
