Little
Italy celebrates the beginning of summer with games for the whole family, an
exhibition of Italian cars and a 1.2 km gastronomic route for the Montreal
Grand Prix.
True to its tradition, Little Italy invites tourists and
residents of Greater Montreal to celebrate the start of the summer season at
the Grand Prix Petite-Italie from June 8 to 10, 2018. For the seventh
consecutive year, the unique neighbourhood is offering a weekend full of
gastronomy, cars and entertainment in honour of the Montreal Grand Prix.
With its European lifestyle, Little Italy and its
merchants will liven up Saint-Laurent Boulevard for over a kilometer!
Visitors can enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the
neighbourhood while enjoying its famous gastronomy in the streets or in the
cafés and restaurants. Moreover, everyone is invited to come and watch the
qualifications as well as the Sunday race on the terraces, a glass of spritz in
hand.
As for entertainment, St. Laurent Boulevard will be
stormed with seven self-service play stations, including a pedal karting
circuit, a giant tablefoot, a 9-hole mini-putt featuring the City of Montreal,
and more. Games that will amuse not only the children but also their parents!
True to the traditions of the old continent, the
celebrations will officially open on Friday 8 of June with the procession of
the Italian brass band, the Banda Gentile. Composed of 30 musicians, the troupe
will remind the nostalgic of southern Italy while introducing young residents
to typical Italian music.
Of course, cars are an integral part of the program. More
than 40 specimens, from individuals and automobile clubs, will be exhibited
throughout the weekend on the Main, between Jean-Talon and Beaubien Ouest.
Lovers of Italian design and engineering will be able to admire the variety of
cars on display as well as a vintage bus courtesy of the Société de transport
de Montréal.
For a short visit, a long day or all weekend, Little Italy
takes advantage of the Grand Prix to invite you to celebrate the arrival of
summer in its company!
The Société de développement commercial Petite-Italie -
Marché Jean-Talon would like to thank the support of Ville de Montréal and the borough
of Rosemont - Petite-Patrie for making this event possible.
