Francois Jalbert
Young Montreal guitarist Francois Jalbert made his debut through the music of Django Reinhardt. He later studied at the University of Montreal in Jazz Performance where he distinguished himself in winning two consecutive years, the Scholarship in Jazz Guitar, offered by the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal (FIJM). Since then, he continues to increase its presence on the Quebec scene, especially with multiple performances at FIJM: in 2008 with his own quartet in 2009 and 2010 with the combos of the University of Montreal. In addition, Francois Jalbert had the opportunity to work with many influential artists, not only in Quebec, but also in France and in the United States. Very active on the Montreal jazz scene, in 2012 he completed a Master’s degree at McGill University in composition and jazz performance. Francois Jalbert has also won the Grand Prix of Montreal guitar in the jazz category in 2006 and 2008. He launched his first solo album as Band Leader in May 2012.
