CD RELEASE CONCERT: Ghosts Inspired in equal part by the music of John Zorn and Miles Davis, the paintings of Mark Rothko and Georges Seurat, and the writings of Hermann Hesse and William Gibson, the Craig Pedersen Quartet plays original music that keeps audiences listening, thinking and on their toes. Featuring a classic chordless quartet of trumpet, alto saxophone, bass and drums, the band plays everything from long grooving builds, to bebop and free-jazz. Recent performance highlights include performances at the 2013 Festival L’Off Jazz du Montréal, the inaugural 2014 Festival of New Trumpet Canada, IMOOfest 2014, and regular monthly gigs at both Montréal’s Resonance Café and Ottawa’s Raw Sugar. Their debut album Days Like Today was the #1 Jazz Album of 2012 on the Earshot Radio Charts. Their second album, Why Paint At All was warmly received at it’s release at the 2013 Festival L’Off Jazz du Montréal, and their third album, Ghosts, is due out in March 2015. Recent tour highlights include performances in Quebec City’s Bar Ste Angele, Toronto’s Array Space, and Guelph’s Silence - the latter of which was lauded by its director, Ben Grossman, as “one of the most powerful performances we've had at the space since we started.”
