Les 24 Préludes de Chopin
The 24 Preludes of Chopin by Marie Chouinard is a pure and abundant work. It showcases the choreographer’s masterful ease in taking on the requirements of classic forms. These variations in solos, duos, trios and ensemble movements create a piece that is at once celebratory and serious. The dance is one with the music, in a presentation that is resolutely modern, energetic and poignant.
Henri Michaux : MouvementsIn 1980, Marie Chouinard discovered Mouvements (1951) by the poet and painter Henri Michaux. She took pleasure in reading it, as though it were a choreographic script. The stage becomes a blank page, on which creation is being reinvented. The dancers, dressed in black, become the characters from Michaux’s texts, or his Indian ink drawings, lending them a spirit that makes them leap off the page. Sublime.
