Opening concert of the 17th OFF JAZZ festival.
With the Transatlantic conversation project, the composer and pianist Maggi Olin joins forces with her fellow countrywoman, the composer and saxophonist Christine Jensen. Backing up these soloists is a jazz ensemble of 11 Quebec musicians, coming together for an unprecedented Sweden-Quebec collaboration in Montreal. The project also shines the spotlight on the Swedish singer Sofie Norling. These composers proclaim their undying love for Monk, Ellington and Mingus, while delving into progressive rock grooves and melodic motifs inspired by classical music, world music as well as folk music. A first-class opening night for the 17th edition of the OFF JAZZ festival!
