One-Hit Wonders is the 8th annual musical fundraiser in support of the Segal Centre.
Ever hear a classic song on the radio and wonder: "Hey whatever happened to that singer?". This year's musical fundraiser is all about bringing back your favourite one-hit-wonders to the spotlight, from "Love Shack" to "Black Velvet" and every "MmmBop" in-between.
Every year, brave individuals put themselves front and center, on the Segal Theatre stage, and sing their hearts out for the benefit of all. Our performers have ranged in age from 8 to, well, considerably more than that! In the past they have paid homage to the musicals Grease and Mamma Mia!, to the Beatles and to Elton John, the 70's, and much more. This year, we are bringing back all those songs we love but just cannot remember who sings them; don’t miss it!
All participants will be rehearsing for many months alongside professionals of the industry in order to raise funds to support Segal Centre programming. Each year, this initiative helps the Segal Centre raise over 50,000 $! It is thanks to participants, ticket buyers and generous donors like you that the Segal can continue to produce great theatre, provide youth arts education, and grow as an important resource for the community. By supporting in any way you can, you help make it possible to do what we do!
