HEAT (Montreal, Heavy-Trip)
The Sound of Heat is the sound of confusion. Tuneful but tone-deaf; beat-down and blown out of porportion. It’s a neat scotch and a mess of a life. You can find it scrawled on bathroom walls, hastily jotted down on cocktail napkins, deleted from your browsing history, lacing your designer drugs. It’s a couple bedroom demos turned into a Montreal 5-piece rock band, Now here’s the sixty-four thousand dollar question: “Do you remember rock n roll radio?”
Heat is a young band from Montreal drawing influences from classic rock bands like Velvet Underground, Jesus and the Mary Chain and the Strokes.

Toronto's Twist was first conceived in late 2013 as a collaborative project between songwriter Laura Hermiston and Brian Borchedt of Holy Fuck. The pair met as Hermiston's earlier band was dissolving and Borchedt was in a gap between releases with his other projects, and began with Borchedt working as a producer on a handful of Hermiston's songs until, owing to their mutual enthusiasm for the early results, their creative relationship deepened into something more like a partnership. Working primarily out of Borchedt's apartment the pair recorded and released a series of singles in late 2014 that garnered praise from VICE, Nylon, Brooklyn Vegan and Spin among others. Though touring briefly as a two guitar and drum machine driven duo, this early attention prompted a transition from a two-piece set up into a full live band, with Borchedt resuming a more behind-the-scenes role as the band hit the road more frequently, playing dates with TOPS, Crocodiles and Wreckless Eric.

Basement Revolver plays introspective indie rock music, reminiscent of The Pixies and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The drone of the city haunts frontwoman Chrisy Hurn: stories woven with factory skylines and gritty streets are sung in a voice pure as waterfalls. The heavy lines of bass/synth player Nimal Agalawatte and drummer Brandon Munro are bedrock for Hurn's ethereal and immediate guitar work.
