Kim Richardson débute sa carrière à un très jeune âge, tout d’abord comme actrice et danseuse dans des théâtres de la région de Toronto. À l’adolescence, elle performe à titre de chanteuse dans des bars, devant obtenir la permission de sa mère, puisqu’elle n’a pas l’âge légal pour y entrer. En 1986, elle obtient son premier Juno dans la catégorie « Interprète le plus prometteur de l’année » avec son simple « He’s my lover ». L’année suivante, elle récidive et obtient le Juno du « Meilleur enregistrement R&B/Soul » pour « Peek-a-boo ». Elle obtiendra son troisième en 1994, pour le « Meilleur album Jazz contemporain », enregistré avec le groupe The Merlin Factor.
À travers les années, Kim accompagne aussi plusieurs chanteurs tels que Celine Dion, Corey Hart, Gregory Charles, Dan Bigras, Isabelle Boulay, Diane Dufresne, Lara Fabian, Garou, Murray Head, Éric Lapointe, Ginette Reno, Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Robert Palmer, Bruno Pelletier, Roch Voisine, Nanette Workman, pour nommer que ceux-là.

Kim Richardson started her career at a very young age, first as an actress and a dancer in the theaters in the Toronto area. During her early teenage years, she performed as a singer in bars, needing her mom’s permission, since she wasn’t of legal age. In 1986, she won her first Juno for “Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year”, with her first single “He’s my lover”. The next year, she struck back with a second win, for her second single “Peek-a-boo” getting the Juno for “Best R&B/Soul Recording”. She then got her third Juno in 1994, for “Best Contemporary Jazz Album”, with the group The Merlin Factor.
