KAE SUN
Ghanaian born Canadian Singer-Songwriter Kae Sun has range. His music mixes lush R&B, melancholy folk and smart pop. Almost invisible, but still informative, is his hip-hop background.
As a cosmopolitan 90’s teenager, he was more drawn to the likes of Nas, dead prez and Outkast. His first forays into serious writing and recording were all raps, and his first show after emigrating to Canada was a rap battle (which he lost). But beyond its trendiness, hip-hop appealed to his love of poetry and language. It wasn’t until a friend turned him on to Neil Young and Bob Dylan that he saw a similar depth in other genres.

MARK CLENNON
Toronto-based Mark Clennon makes new-school R&B that manages to sound both big and small at the same time. He delivers honest, touching lyrics with a powerful voice over sweeping tracks. The result is music with outsized emotional resonance.
Clennon’s first EP, When The Smoke Clears, is a collaboration between himself and Montreal producer Joey (of rap trio The Posterz). Over a year of weekend trips to Montreal, the duo fleshed out a handful of Mark’s demos into the wide-ranging, fully-formed project.
