L’événement Round Robin de la Red Bull Music Academy est de retour et, pour la première fois, c'est à Montréal qu'il se déroule. Comment ça fonctionne? Un musicien entame une improvisation en solo de cinq minutes. Un autre musicien se joint ensuite à lui pour cinq minutes d’improvisation en duo. Puis, le musicien 1 quitte la scène pour laisser place à un musicien 3, qui improvise avec le musicien 2 pendant cinq minutes, et ainsi de suite pendant deux heures. Vous aurez l’occasion d’entendre comme jamais auparavant des artistes issus du jazz, de la musique électronique, du rock expérimental et de plusieurs autres genres musicaux. Parmi les musiciens participants on retrouve Richard Reed Parry et Sarah Neufeld d' Arcade Fire, Mauro Pezzente de Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Rebecca Foon de A Silver Mt. Zion, Austin Tufts des BRAIDS, le musicien et compositeur électronique d'Eon ainsi que le trompettiste jazz Craig Pedersen, le rappeur Socalled, l'artiste bass canadien d'origine congolaise Young Paris, la protégée du label One Little Indian FOXTROTT, Sandro Perri de Polmo Polpo, Mark Haynes du collectif canadien Kalmunity et plus encore.

Red Bull Music Academy brings back its Round Robin event, this time for its debut in Montréal. The format? Simple. One musician starts a solo improvisation lasting five minutes. Another musician then joins for five minutes of duo improvisation. After those five minutes, musician #1 leaves the stage and musician #3 joins musician #2 for another five minutes, and so on and so forth for two hours. You’ll hear artists from the realms of jazz, electronics, experimental rock and everything in between as you’ve never heard them before. Featured artists include Richard Reed Parry and Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire, Mauro Pezzente of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Rebecca Foon of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Austin Tufts of BRAIDS and electronic musician and songwriter d'Eon, as well as jazz trumpeter Craig Pedersen, rapper Socalled, Canadian Congolese bass artist Young Paris, One Little Indian recording artist FOXTROTT, Sandro Perri of Polmo Polpo and Mark Haynes of Canadian collective Kalmunity and more.
