Le troubadour voyageur et producteur de musique world Chris Velan revient à la maison le 6 avril pour se produire avec son groupe au Divan Orange dans le cadre du lancement de son album « Glow ». (lancé officiellement le 4 mars)Velan explore les frontières musicales depuis plus d’une décennie avec son pop-folk infecté de musique world. Auteur-compositeur et performeur prolifique, il a tourné un peu partout à travers l’Amérique du nord, foulant entre autres les planches du Lincoln Center, de Sundance Festival, du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, d’Osheaga et du Virgin Festival.Comme producteur itinérant, il a travaillé avec le Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars pour lesquels il a réalisé deux albums, soit Living Like A Refugee et Libation. Plus récemment, il a enregistré et réalisé Wa Di Yo pour le collectif Haitien Lakou Mizik et le premier album de la chanteuse américaine Francesca Blanchard, Deux Visions.Le sixième album de Velan, co-réalisé par Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Basiat Bulat) le conduit encore plus loin. Mettant en vedette des membres de groupes montréalais biens connus comme The Unicorns, Suuns, The Barr Brothers, AroarA et Dear Denizen, il mêle le disco, le rock, le folk pop et le rocksteady d’antan pour bricoler des chansons assumées et exposant toute la force du talent de compositeur de l’artiste.

Montreal traveling troubadour and world music producer, Chris Velan, brings it all home on April 6th to perform with his band at le Divan Orange for the Montreal launch of his upcoming album, “Glow” (to be released on March 4th).
Velan has been crossing borders in music for over a decade with his brand of world-inflected pop-folk. A prolific songwriter and consummate performer, he has toured extensively throughout North America, with notable performances at The Lincoln Center, Sundance Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Osheaga and the Virgin Festival.
As a globetrotting producer, he has worked with Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars for whom he produced their debut and latest albums, Living Like A Refugee and Libation. He most recently recorded and produced the soon-to-be-released debut album, Wa Di Yo, for Haitian music collective, Lakou Mizik, and Vermont songstress, Francesca Blanchard’s, debut release, Deux Visions.
Velan’s sixth album, co-produced by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Basia Bulat), has him at the top of his game. Featuring members of Montreal band favourites, The Unicorns, Suuns, The Barr Brothers, AroarA and Dear Denizen, the album assembles a gathering of self-assured songs – with nods to afrobeat, disco rock, folk pop and vintage rocksteady - under the tent of Velan’s adroit song craftsmanship.
