The WINTER SHED HAPPENING continues every day from December 16 until December 24 at Quartier DIX30, shining the spotlight on artists and artisans renowned for their talent, passion and innovation – makers of the distinctive, the delicious and the daring.
AMONG THE LINEUP…
The spontaneous, stroll-friendly layout of the event offers a series of glimpses into a world of gift-giving (and self-indulging) inspirations. The combination of high-quality, out-of-the-ordinary and unique items is showcased in a laid-back, fun-filled and inviting décor, where sought-after names come together with inspiring new talents.
Denis Gagnon gets the party started with his iconic backpacks and limited-edition nutcrackers. Nearby, Coquilles’s selection of everyday objects are transformed into works of art by Olicorno. The natural beauty and contemporary chic of alpaca wool is also on display in the sartorial and décor items by AlpagAdore, while Velvet Moustache’s menagerie of cushions, soft toys and other curiosities is the epitome of charm.
Board games aficionados at Randolph open their doors to introduce great finds. Toffie Affichiste captures the eye with a singular line of posters inspired by abstract art from the 50’s and Scandinavian design, as do Justine Cloutier’s expressive paintings. Atelier LaGrange’s surprising wood made décor and fashion items also grace the sheds, while String Theory creators reveal their truly unique designer scarfs. Plus, Henri et Victoria is on hand with an array of extraordinary shaving and grooming products that are winning over fans here and across the continent.
Then there’s the ever-wow-worthy and humorously self-proclaimed “winter shed curator” Dick Walsh, who is showcasing his top picks for the season, including exclusive hand-sewn wallets from couture artist Rémi Racine and the exhilarating 7 Deadly Soaps from multidisciplinary artist Joffrey Dumas, aka FRIGID.
Tastebud-tickling is also part of the experience with the folks at Entre Pierre & Terre, who delight in reinventing homegrown flavours with ciders and sparkling beverages made using the time-honoured champagne method, not to mention a new, show-stopping and oh-so-on-trend vermouth.
PERFORMANCE ART
Visual artists on site are also lending their special touch to a product plucked from one of the WINTER SHEDS – be it a bottle of seasonal spirits or something else entirely. A creative way of making that latest find that much finer.
