Computers are everywhere, but fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. Girls and minorities are severely underrepresented. Good news is, we’re on our way to change this. With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on homepages of Google, MSN, Yahoo! and Disney. Over 100 partners joined together to support this movement. Last year, every Apple Store in the world hosted an Hour of Code and even President Obama wrote his first line of code as part of the campaign. Launched in 2013, Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science should be part of core curriculum, alongside other courses such as biology, chemistry or algebra. The Hour of Code is coming again December 7-13. Join the Largest learning event in history. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Nope. The event is open to students and individuals of all ages! What can/can't I bring to the event? It is prefered that you bring a laptop or computer. All you need is an internet access to participate, which we provide! If you cannot bring a laptop or computer, there are offline workshops available for you as well. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? If you have any qyestions, please send a message to the event's facebook page. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. However, for those who RSVP their attendance through Eventbrite, we will be prnting for you your very own Certificate of Completion of this hour of Code for you to take home with pride. The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? For the purpose of the event it does not change anything. However, the name on the Certificate will be that of the attendee registered with Eventbrite.
