Quelle place occupe l'art dans le quotidien des gens ? C'est la question que se pose l'artiste mexicano-canadien Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. À travers ses environnements sonores, ses spectacles de lumière et ses projections interactives campés sur cinq continents et qui lui ont valu deux prix BAFTA, un prix Bauhaus et un Prix du Gouverneur général, il utilise la technologie pour rassembler les gens et à en faire des acteurs de changement de la société. Tourné en 10 ans dans 25 villes à travers le monde, ce film explore sa démarche artistique et dépeint son enthousiasme contagieux à transformer l'espace urbain en œuvre d'art à ciel ouvert, de Vancouver à Rotterdam en passant par New York.

Participate to the kick-off of the Festival International du Film sur l'Art by coming to the world preview screening of our opening film "Megalodemocrat: The Public Art of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer" by Benjamin Duffield. The artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer himself will be attending the screening.
• Synopsis
What place does art have in people’s daily lives? That is the question which Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer asks. In developing his acoustic environments, his light shows, and his interactive projections on five continents, which won him two BAFTA Awards, a Bauhaus Award, and a Governor General Award, he uses technology to gather people and transform them into actors for social change. Filmed over 10 years in 25 cities around the globe, this film paints a picture of his approach and contagious enthusiasm when it comes to transforming the urban landscape into a work of art for all to see, from Vancouver to Rotterdam to New York.
