Title: Recent Works by the Windows Collective

The Collective formed in 2008 with the intention to explore the subversive possibilities of creating outdoor public film installations and of bringing alternative film practices to a wider audience in the city of Ottawa. The vision of the Collective is to create original, accessible and unconventional art events using super 8mm, 16mm and 35mm film as the medium.
Vision :
> To play with the aesthetics of residential and commercial architectural structures. To re-imagine a home or dwelling as a site for the presentation of new works of art.
> To re-invent a contemporary and mobile urban art practice, built out of the traditions of filmmaking. Here film projection is imagined as a form of graffiti.
> To draw together people from diverse communities who would not normally have contact with contemporary art. The intention is to challenge habits of isolation and disconnection that television / internet culture proposes, by drawing residents out of their homes in the evening to view the films together as a spontaneous audience.
> To provide opportunities for artists to participate within the area of expanded cinema through workshops and commissioned programming.
