L’histoire controversée de la planification urbaine et des politiques à l’œuvre dans la réalisation d’un ensemble de ponts enjambant les promenades des parcs de Long Island, New York, commandés dans les années 1920 et 1930. L’histoire suggère que les ponts furent conçus dans le but d’empêcher le passage des autobus, ne permettant ainsi qu'aux classes moyennes et supérieures possédant une voiture d'accéder aux espaces de loisirs de Long Island. Le film explore les questions que soulève ce cas célèbre avec quatre spécialistes qui en ont débattu dans les années 1980 et 1990.

The controversial story of the urban planning and politics at work in the building of a series of overpasses that span the parkways of Long Island, New York, commissioned in the 1920s and 1930s. The story suggests the bridges were designed to prevent the passage of buses, thereby allowing only people who could afford a car to access Long Island’s recreational areas. The film explores the interpretations of the design by four scholars who debated the matter in the 1980s and 1990s.
