La chorégraphie in situ Decomposition of a Continuous Whole, de taisha paggett, en cours depuis 2009, remet en question l’indexicalité de la danse à l’intérieur de l’espace de l’exposition, ici conçu comme outil critique de déconstruction et de réflexion. Selon l’artiste, en 2009: «Decomposition of a Continuous Whole est une performance où je dessine sur les murs d’une pièce, les yeux bandés. Je voulais créer un espace où je serais parmi le public, mais où j’ignorerais leurs yeux, leur regard. Je voulais aussi sortir des structures temporelles de la danse, des durées de 7, 15, 45 minutes, d’une soirée. Je voulais élargir le temps et délaisser l’arc narratif. Je voulais être dans l’expérience, tout simplement. Et je voulais que cette expérience intérieure soit aussi instructive pour moi que pour le public.»

taisha paggett’s site specific choreography Decomposition of a Continuous Whole which she has continued to develop since 2009, questions the indexicality of dance within the exhibition space as a critical tool of deconstruction and reflection. According to the artist in 2009: “Decomposition of a Continuous Whole is a piece where I’m blindfolded and drawing on the walls of a room. I wanted to create a space where an audience was around me, and I wasn’t aware of their viewing, their eyes. I wanted to get out of this 7 minute, 15 minute, 45 minute, evening length dance structure. I wanted to expand time and have no narrative arc. I just wanted to be in an experience. And I wanted my internal experience to be as informative as what the audience was taking in.”
