Did you know that in Canada, childhood cancer remains the #1 disease causing death in children – more deaths than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined! However, only 3% of all cancer research dollars are directed to childhood cancer research. And yet, saving the lives of children with cancer can give them over 70 years of life’s milestones and dreams to celebrate! With pediatric cancer research being severely underfunded each year, any amount given makes a big difference. Taking this into account, a group of 4 McGilll medical students will be holding a fundraising event to support the fight against childhood cancer, in collaboration with the Medical Students Society (MSS).
This event will feature a wine and cheese, a talk by Dr Nada Jabado (a world renowned hemato-oncologist that specialises in the field of pediatric brain cancers), a head shaving event, silent auction and much more!
This is the first time McGill medical students are participating in such a fundraiser and our goal is to raise $10,000! We would like to go beyond this goal and rival other medical schools that have been doing this for years, such as UOttawa and UToronto. So please come unwind with some wine and cheese and get togther, all for a great cause!
