Astro McGill presents a very special Public Astro Night — Pluto Palooza: Discoveries from the New Horizons Mission. Come celebrate the recent New Horizons mission Pluto Flyby and learn more about Pluto. Why and how was Pluto discovered? Why was it demoted from Planet to Dwarf Planet? How has New Horizons changed our understanding of Pluto? Doors open at 7:30 pm. Public talk begins at 8:30 pm, followed by night sky observations (weather permitting). Seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Arrive early to get a good seat. FAQs Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Nope. RSVP let us know that you are coming. An RSVP does not guarantee you a seat. Is this event suitable for children? There is NO AGE LIMIT to attend and discover the wonders of the universe. But, while we are not imposing any age cutoff, young kids (below 5 or 6 years old) might find the hour-long public lecture rather long. Do I need to know much about astronomy to attend? No. We aim to make the talk accessible to a broad audience— from people know nothing about astronomy to long-time astro geeks. Is Pluto a Planet? It depends on how you define the word “planet”.
