When Is the Digital in Architecture?
Join us at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles for a conversation with Greg Lynn, Wolf Prix, Peter Testa, and Devyn Weiser, moderated by Andrew Goodhouse (Editor, CCA Publications).
When is the digital in architecture? What are the conditions that led architects to integrate digital tools into their practices? Over the course of the #ArchaeologyoftheDigital research program, the Centre Canadien d'Architecture / Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) has collected the archival records of twenty-five projects, and we have been publishing a series of digital publications that address each of these projects. This afternoon, we’ll have a look at the epubs produced for Neil Denari’s Interrupted Projections and Testa & Weiser’s Carbon Tower, and we’ll discuss Coop Himmelb(l)au’s BMW Welt, the subject of a forthcoming epub. We’ll also give a preview of When Is the Digital in Architecture?, a print book to be published next month, which is like the capstone of Archaeology of the Digital, and an opening up of the issue to new directions for further research.

Tout au long du programme de recherche #Archéologiedunumérique, le Centre Canadien d'Architecture / Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) a recueilli les documents d’archives de vingt-cinq projets, et nous avons produit une série de publications numériques qui portent sur chacun des projets. Cet après-midi, nous étudierons les epubs réalisées pour Interrupted Projections, de Neil Denari, et Carbon Tower, de Testa & Weiser, et aborderons BMW Welt, de Coop Himmelb(l)au, le sujet d’une epub à venir. Nous présenterons aussi en avant-première Quand le numérique marque-t-il l’architecture?, un livre imprimé à paraître le mois prochain, qui se veut un manuel-cadre de l’Archéologie du numérique, et qui ouvrira la discussion sur des orientations de recherches à venir.
