A creative force with a luscious tone, alto saxophonist Tevet Sela brings a wealth and breadth of influences to his playing that few musicians possess. Recognized throughout Israel for his many years on Israeli television variety shows as a first call sax player and band leader, this adept and dexterous post bopper's music is often drenched in heavy blues and the Middle-Eastern inflections of his Israeli cultural heritage.
It is this last influence that Tevet delves into in his latest project, a collaboration with composer, harmonicist and pianist Jason Rosenblatt. Rosenblatt's rare skill on the harmonica can be both mind blowing and soulful. His penchant for eastern-european music rounds out the project and helps to provide a complete spectrum of Jewish sounds from East to West.
