After Marseille, Moscow, and even Philadelphia, it’s Montreal’s turn to welcome the brilliant artist, Olivier Grossetête, who has conceived the biggest cardboard construction ever seen in Québec. Just for you! A monumental and ephemeral reproduction of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, that iconic symbol of Montreal architecture!
Get ready for an unprecedented artistic and human experience.
Above all, this project is about reflecting on our collective power to collaborate. Just imagine a cardboard structure measuring 30 feet high by 115 feet long, erected without a crane or machines. Nothing but the incredible collective energy of Montreal’s citizens will build this amazing structure. Olivier Grossetête is the bandleader of this unusual project, and he and his team will direct participative workshops that mix architectural and original artistic ideas. Come assemble, cutout, and stack the cardboard boxes that will comprise this monumental work. On the final construction day, as the culminating point in this spectacular project, you are invited to lend a helping hand in erecting this gigantic bridge in the Place des Festivals. And as a lasting souvenir of this incredible collective adventure, the group of participants will close the project by destroying the structure in a carnival-like and euphoric party atmosphere.
Ever sensitive to the environment, the 1500 cardboard boxes are offered and recycled by CASCADES.
