Where Is the Critical Voice in Architecture Today?

In the first of two events, Kenneth Frampton (Columbia University) will discuss approaches to architectural history today with Esra Akcan (Cornell University) and Mark Jarzombek (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). What does it mean to write a global history of architecture now? What is the relationship between such a history and urgent contemporary concerns?
Frampton’s archive arrived at the CCA a few months ago; this conversation is a first step in providing access to this body of work, as well as beginning to think about how architectural archives generated outside of design practice can inform our understanding of the field today.

Dans ce premier de deux évènements, Kenneth Frampton discute les approches de l’histoire de l’architecture aujourd’hui, avec Esra Akcan (Cornell University) et Mark Jarzombek (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Que signifie l’écriture d’une histoire globale de l’architecture au regard de l’urgence des enjeux contemporains?
Les archives de Frampton sont arrivées au CCA il y a quelques mois; cette conversation offre une première occasion de rendre cet ensemble public et d’amorcer une réflexion sur comment les archives de l’architectures générées à l’extérieur de la pratique du design peuvent éclairer notre compréhension de ce champs aujourd’hui.
