DAY 2 - SCREENING 2
Curator : Guillaume Vallée
> Lettre à Freud - Sophie Bouloux
Super8 to video - 06:00
Écrit en 2006 et réalisé en film en 2016, Lettre à Freud retrace le dialogue entre l'enfant et l'adulte parlant d'un passé douloureux et d'un présent incertain.
> Mar/13/SR/Square Sequin - Sonya Stefan
16mm to video - 06:00
From the Annuaire series : a yearlong audiovisual collaboration between Alain Lefebvre (experimental musician) and Sonya Stefan (dancer, choreographer, filmmaker) started in January 2013.
> All My Life (After Baillie) – Clint Enns
Super8 to video - 03:00
Digital animation scroll based on a glitched panorama created from Bruce Baillie's All My Life (1966) and animated on super 8.
> Breathe - Leonardo Zito
Super8 to video - 07:00
Painted film where abstraction takes the place of dark emotions. How hard is trying to breathe in the deeper waters of our self.
> Self Portrait Post Mortem / Self Portrait Post Partum – Louise Bourque
35mm to video - 10:00
PART 1: An unearthed time capsule consisting of footage of the maker's youthful self – an “exquisite corpse” with nature as collaborator. That discovery seemed handed over like a gift and
prompted the making of this film, a metaphysical pas-de-deux in which decay undermines the image and in the process engenders a transmutation.
PART 2: An autobiographical experimental film exploring the ramifications of the devastating breakup of a romantic relationship. A triptych of self-portraits — entire camera rolls, each subjected
to different methods of extreme interventions on the celluloid itself — are presented in a series of tableaux punctuated by quotes reflecting on romantic love scratched into the filmstrip.
> Dissolved - Stefanie Weberhofer
16mm to video - 04:00
A 16mm color film first documents chemical processes through a microscope and then has to experience these processes for itself. Aufgelöst is a dyadic study showing change, change as the
only constant.
> Les Châssis de Lourdes - Rhayne Vermette
16mm to video – 18:00
“…while many architects through their time have sought a ‘true house’ or a ‘true architecture’, their truth was something of the past and not so true in the present […] here architecture is a child
of the sea, arose from its substance…” — Gio Ponti
At the age of 32, I finally ran away from home. Dramatically, I left with only my cat and copies of all the still and motion images taken by my father (these dating until the mid 1990s when he then
passed his camera down to me). And while I unpacked the baggage of this surreal house coincidentally, back home, renovations were in order… Here, an architectural threnody is composed through a various "true stories" and the inherent struggle between the metaphysical and material.
> Granular Film : Beirut – Charles-André Coderre
16mm to video – 06:00
Reminiscence of a trip in Beirut. The sea. the palm trees, the buildings melt when my eyelids began to close. My memories now have a separate life of their own.
> B-Movie – Dan Brown
35mm to video - 10:00
"A film found on a scrap heap." – Jean-Luc Godard
A collage of decaying kung fu trailers rescued from a sidewalk that was close to my house. I reassembled them as best possible, from start to finish, incorporating as much as I could of the various bits that were found and adding my own improvements along the way.
